September 2019

Dear APAS members,

The APAS2020 conference will be held at Fairmont Resort in Leura on 23-25 March 2020 (Monday – Wednesday). As usual, the annual team building event will be held on the 1st day, followed by paper presentations on the 2nd and 3rd day of the conference. The conference theme is “2020 Vision: Hindsight, Backsight, Foresight” – please refer to the event page for details.

The Call for Abstracts for APAS2020 is now open. A successful conference relies on the presentation of quality papers reporting on a multitude of areas that are of interest to the profession. There is a lot of fantastic work being done out there – why not tell the profession about it? Please consider presenting a paper at this conference. Please note that the conference registration fee will be waived for presenters (i.e. one presenter per paper).

If you are willing to contribute, please drop me a quick note with a tentative title that indicates your topic. The deadline for submitting an abstract is Friday, 20 September 2019. Please use the abstract template, closely follow the instructions, and email the abstract to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please note that abstracts not using the abstract template will not be accepted.

For your information, the deadlines for APAS2020 contributions are as stated below. Please ensure that you meet these deadlines, so the conference program and proceedings can be finalised in time.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Abstract submission deadline:   Friday, 20 September 2019

Draft paper deadline:                   Friday, 22 November 2019

Final paper deadline:                   Friday, 24 January 2020

Conference:                                   23-25 March 2020 (Monday-Wednesday, with presentations on Tue and Wed)

We recognise that authors may not be very experienced in writing papers. In fact, we encourage submissions from authors that do not normally present their work at conferences. Following the positive feedback received after past APAS conferences, we therefore again offer two paper deadlines. By submitting your paper by the draft paper deadline, you have the opportunity to receive feedback from the Editor which may result in improvements of your paper. Any suggested changes can then be made before the final paper deadline. Please ensure that you use the full paper template for your submission.

Please also note that all papers will be made available on the APAS website (https://www.apas.org.au/). On the Resources page, you will also find this Call for Abstracts including the attached templates.

Please feel free to pass on this Call for Abstracts to any colleagues that may be interested in presenting at APAS2020.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

Kind Regards,

Dr Volker Janssen
