JULY 2024
The APAS2025 conference will be held at the Rydges Resort Hunter Valley in Lovedale on 24-26 March 2025 (Monday – Wednesday).
As usual, the annual team building event will be held on the first day, followed by paper presentations on the second and third day of the conference. The conference theme is “Plumb Lines and Mulled Wines” – please refer to the APAS2025 event page for all the latest details.
The Call for Abstracts for APAS2025 is now open. A successful conference relies on the presentation of quality papers reporting on a multitude of areas that are of interest to the profession. There is a lot of fantastic work being done out there – why not tell the profession about it? Please consider presenting a paper at this conference. Please note that the conference registration fee will be waived for presenters (i.e. one presenter per paper).
If you are willing to contribute, please drop a quick note to Volker at Publications@apas.org.au with a tentative title that indicates your topic.
The deadline for submitting an abstract is Friday, 20 September 2024 extended to Friday, 11 October 2024.
Please download and use the abstract template and closely follow the instructions, then email the abstract to Publications@apas.org.au.
Please note that abstracts not using the abstract template will not be accepted.
More information for authors and important dates and deadlines are available on our APAS2025 event page.
Please feel free to pass on this Call for Abstracts to any colleagues that may be interested in presenting at APAS2025.
APRIL 2024
The APAS2024 conference, held in Canberra on 18-20 March 2024, was a great success at a fantastic venue with lots of opportunities for networking and interaction with the technical exhibitors. It attracted 155 delegates with 43% from private industry, and the conference theme "Pushing the Boundaries" was embraced with gusto by many.
Congratulations to Warren Thomas (formally NSW Public Works) for winning the Keith Haddon Memorial Prize for the best conference paper with “Henry, me and philosophy”.
The conference proceedings are now available on our Resources page.
I would like to take this opportunity to again thank all presenters and our gala dinner speaker Dr Brad Tucker for contributing to a very interesting and diverse program. We very much appreciate your efforts because without you we wouldn’t be able to organise such a successful event every year.
Thanks also to the APAS committee for their hard work in making this conference happen and run so smoothly. It takes a lot of effort behind the scenes and your dedication and enthusiasm are very much appreciated.
Last but not least, a big thank you to our brilliant photographer, Simon Hine, for his efforts in documenting the conference in pictures. Once the photos have been edited, they will be made available for download online for a limited time.
Next year’s conference, APAS2025, will be held in Lovedale in the Hunter Valley on 24-26 March 2025. Please save the date and consider volunteering yourself, a colleague or friend to present at APAS2025. To register your interest to present, please contact me. A call for abstracts will follow in due course.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
Kind Regards,
Dr Volker Janssen
